I didn't think cnaff's comments deserved a response, but then neither do Chris' efforts deserve to go unsupported, or unappreciated. So, thank-you, Chris.

Make no mistake, I appreciate Chris's lifelong fight to affect the ongoing fishery debacle over which we preside on this board. I also appreciate some currents of intent that are sometimes thrust into the conversation about the validity of certain types of people and their gravitas to engage hereon. By way of example, BW's simple statements in the past that some here(me,etc.) are too stupid and ignorant to participate. That's a rhetorical challenge, and I certainly have taken the opportunity to throw it up to him, in good faith that he can defend his position, and not need the help of anyone who feels duty-bound to protect him as a sacred cow. Chris made a couple of statements with which I take a certain amount of umbrage, clearly they are not important, but he issued them, and I am here to point out that they are related to BW's "down the nose" idea of stupid people on his platform when it comes to frustrated posters wanting to make sense of the convoluted, and logic destroying trajectory of the NC fish process. Several years ago, Chris allowed that he was transfixed by the small minded stasis of those who might question the decidedly left-wing thrust whereby the government so deeply wished to dictate what light bulbs we can use. I will state here, as an unequivocal point, waiting for Chris's long absent rebuttal of equivocation, that he issued this as a signal that he is swimming with donkeys and wishes we were a smarter bunch. To bother explaining that one's choice of lightbulb can be attended by myriad thought pathways and, in my mind, at least, to exalt the governing impulse to control that choice reeks of political correctness are both ideas which don't really need explication in a room full of sentient beings. But, by Chris's words, I realized that he ain't that satisfied with the hoi poloi as constituted on this board, but I guess he stuck it out for awhile and now he wants to say that he's tired of the fighting. I understand that, and, by God, I think he has done his best to influence and shape the history of our fishery, especially in terms of those who would see some level of conservation ethic apply, where the official state structure applies none. In his declaration of standing down in the fisheries fight, Chris likewise proposed to take along various old timers, similarly spent, to that boneyard where the fishery outrages are tolerated without rancor. So, despite his years of dedicated effort, the cut fuel lines, and the threats, for which I, and we, give him full credit and cudos, There is still the matter of the light bulbs, which he has never answered, and the matter of encouraging others to give up the fight, as seen in his words. Herein rests the full scope and thrust of my seeming ridicule, and I admit that it could be easy to mistake my words as literal contempt, but they are not, because I am truly begging him to find the words to defend the broad put down of those of us on this board who would so stupidly insist on picking our own light bulbs, AND, what kind of cop out is finally deciding to withdraw, as plainly stated in his post, taking the tired and beaten away with him as he goes. The reply that he has taken lumps and been threatened fall hard upon me, and I am appropriately bloodied and stand in diminished stature in a previously diminutive state of gravitas, for I am not confident that I could put up with the attendant weasels in NC's management regime. But this is a discussion board, and I am determined that the man be challenged with regard to his statements HERE. That is all, and If your ox be gored by that, then give it to me in kind, like that proverbial pig on a spit. The sacred cow is that we have board participation. I've seen vaunted protons of faithful nuclear fundament come to dust here by slamming the membership(O. Lipton, for example), so I think this is not a quixotic idea, but a relevant answer to seek: what would you advise, Chris, on the selection of our bulbs, and won't you leave a few persons of grave conservationist demeanor behind to pursue the goal of one day being able to hold our heads up as North Carolinians who also like our fish alive. Otherwise, you are utterly grand, and you have my blessing to go and do as you might choose, especially in the bulb department.
Edited "build" to " bulb".
