Little yeller butterflies are flying. Pretty big mullet blow last weekend of Aug. Reds starting to gather on some local beaches & inlets. Friends jumped some big schools of Albies off Bogue Inlet this past Saturday. Hopin' that Irma doesn't crash our party and ruin it.
Was out looking for them Monday and did not see any. Found 2 Cobia outside BI though. Hooked one on an 8wt that did not stay buttoned up very long on 20lbs tippet.
Looks like the beaches will get beat up some more from Jose. Going to get some winds and rain off of it just inshore.
Just my luck, going to be on a fishing trip all next week. Seems like everytime we go the winds or rains come in to trip us up. Oh well we will play the cards we are dealt. Rain suits are in the boat....
Be very careful out of NRI Scott. Jose has stirred up a big swell and these inlets will be treacherous for several more days. I picked up some nice specks Sat morning in upper NR. PM me if you'd like details.
