Fished as volunteer crew with Brynner Parks out of OI yesterday 2/22 for blue fin. a good number of fish caught and the sizes were good. We only had 1 BFT bite and broke him off after a sizzling half spool 15 second burnoff against 27#s of drag. 130# mainline broke. Big fish. We caught 2 YFTs so not a complete waste of time, but not what we wanted. Numerous small boats out there. Saw about 30 boats total. We were supposed to fish this weekend, but t'will be a blowin'.
The best days to fish are always yesterday and tomorrow.

Brant McMullan's brother and another guy on a center console caught on that cored out at 700#s. We watched him fight it. Another boat caught a 114 inch fish. There are some real giants out there now.
