NCW member, "di hrd " has amazing, "Stream droppin" trip

By di hrd

Needed to make a stream drop trip.  Yesterday's forecast looked good if the NW would drop out like predicted.   Had an offer from a guy to get the gas ---all the gas.  YES SIR.   Wind dropped out and the crew of four cleared CB inlet around 6am for the Same Ole area.  Water warmed to 70 around 25nm and 76 15 miles from the hole.  We stopped to jig bait on some good marks around 27mi.  Cigars, tates and a few 12-14" b-lliners.   Grouper and kings taking them off the rigs.  Pete got one  7 lb red on a jig and I got one about six lbs and a schoolie king.

Ran to the first number and it was on.  Leslie was the first to drop and brought up a small fireback grouper.  I dropped a tate and got a 15lb red.  It was gang busters on the first few drifts, with a 23" scamp and another red in the boat.  We moved around on a large live bottom area and would get cracked every time we made the first drops.  The hot bait was the small live cigars we jiged earlier.  I had the hot spot at first and caught a beautiful 14lb yellow fin grouper and the trash fish "super slam"(see below) including a lion fish.  Pete (white lake buck) stayed true to the butterfly jigs most of the day and caught the biggest red of the day.  We never trolled but had two teen reds get cut in half by something fast.
